Activities, Events & Exchanges

Over the years many cultural, sporting and educational exchanges have been arranged and hundreds of Prestonians and citizens of our twin towns have benefitted.

In 2020 the city was invited to participate in a major football tournament in Nîmes and the Preston Schoolboys under 13 squad was due to represent the City - “All courtesy of our French friends!” adds Chairman, Derek Smith. While the pandemic forced postponement, it is hoped that there will be a similar opportunities in the future.

Preston Trampoline Club was part-funded for visits to XXXX and XXXX while the Preston Ukulele Society was supported by the Preston Twinning Partnership to participate in events in …XXXXX and XXXX.

Similarly, support was given to Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Club for the inter-European tournament held at the Hoppers’ home ground in 2019.

WORLD AUTISM DAY – APRIL 2ND 2022 NIMES

Nimes, is hosting a major autism-focussed conference on World Autism Awareness Day and has invited Preston mum, Rebecca Taylor, to speak about her experience as the mother of an autistic child and developer of a program, used by British Airways, to further awareness of the condition and treatment of behaviours.

VISIT TO RECKLINGHAUSEN – 12-15TH AUGUST 2022

Recklinghausen has invited a party from Preston to participate in the 65th anniversary celebrations of our twinning relationship also providing the opportunity to explore new commercial, cultural and civic ties.
